Aside from the unwillingness to blend with the Indian Hindu population and the ensuing war in 1947, the Bangladeshi War in 1971, the ongoing "disputes" over Kashmir, the influx of the mujahadeen from Afghanistan during the Russian-Afghan War, what actually gives anyone a belief that a stable, non-dictatorial, or pseudo-"democratic" gov't can exist in Pakistan?

Watch India.StormWarninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09990758652184200652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-52446325512063682912007-12-31T11:53:00.000-05:002007-12-31T11:53:00.000-05:00There's nothing like a little tragedy to bring out...There's nothing like a little tragedy to bring out the best in people, eh? The people of Pakistan are showing their true colors in the wake of this incident, and what is truly concerning is the apparent inability for the nation to keep the people under control.

why is this concerning? Why not just sit back and watch them tear their country apart as they show the rest of the world just how civilized they can be?

Two words:

Nuclear arsenal.

Yikes!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-918787996447005512007-12-31T11:33:00.000-05:002007-12-31T11:33:00.000-05:00Musharraf is our man for now, although I'll be gla...Musharraf is our man for now, although I'll be glad to see a legitimate government - committed to eradicating terror - come to power.

Nice posting, Courtney!AmPowerBloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18236333181889271910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-19985610428889102992007-12-30T16:38:00.000-05:002007-12-30T16:38:00.000-05:00Denying democracy never benefits anyone but those ...Denying democracy never benefits anyone but those in power. I think the assassination helps Musharraf most because instability justifies martial law and the continuation of extra-legal measures to restore the control that everyone, including the West, tells us is necessary. Openness equality and democracy are principles that the reactionary forces of fanaticism will continually try to undermine, but in doing so they just serve the powers that be by perpetuating an equally repressive status quo. I don't know what the answer is to this terrorist tango, but the solution will not come from within the institutionalized Pakistani military/intelligence apparatus and their approved pool of politicians.Francis Scudellarihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01008685302028451297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-11736668141361038392007-12-30T15:51:00.000-05:002007-12-30T15:51:00.000-05:00You're absoltely right, Courtney.
