My ex-girlfriends will tell you I'm boyish, but they're probably not couching it with "charm".

No doubt that threats to our buddy are real and range from insidious, diabolical, and existential to just plain ol' rhetorical summer camp fantasy talk. I just urge caution not to lump those bummers with anyone in this or previous US admins. That's a whole other spectrum. But your concern about 67 borders is duly noted and appreciated by me.

We can probably agree any deal is just a big peut-être - no one on the scene is charming enough to broker, and with whom is a mystery. But '67 basis is obv. more realistic than relocation.

Even the totally secular kibbutz founder types like Dayan loved the land. Sure, some would be convinced today of a Herzl/South America deal. And hey, I'm sympathetic to the notion because the region is a never ending hassle and sort of dumpy, but my peeps are probably gonna want to stay, rockets or otherwise.

And yeah all 3 majors say it's very special - intractability.Jonnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17580393981792626607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-71211719827340151272011-05-27T12:23:19.387-04:002011-05-27T12:23:19.387-04:00@Jonny - no diss meant on use of the d word. (or t...@Jonny - no diss meant on use of the d word. (or the boy - i mistakenly tho't it was part of your nom d'guerre - forgiveness please) OTOH, there are several metric tonnes of cats who enjoy pursuing the old 'Phased Plan" (definition available in the GsGf Vocab) the PLOld school terrorists advocate.

Also a significant buffer zone in missile talk means time. Time to react, time to intercept and of course - time for East Palestine to deny, blame non state rocket rich creeps and adapt Pakistan's Writ of State phobia.

There are simply no good reasons available for any serious thinking person to seriously advocate the 67 borders.

Since Nazi time Deutschland and Imperial Nippon screamed "God! Please! Stop!" there have been born more than 100 nation states and the movements of hundreds of borders. Border moving - seldom agreeable to everyone - yet nation states accepted them as a settled border was better than war.

Germany accepted losing Prussia, Russia accepted the secession of Kazakstan and Serbs are handling the idea of Kosovo. The Greeks are handling Turkey's illegit occupation of Cyprus. Syria is doing just fine without Golan.

Even in 3rd world states gave up treasured aspirations rather than shed blood forever - Somalia gave up Ogaden, Guatemala stopped demanding Belize and Indonesia finally gave up East Timor.

There is one glaring, bizarro conspicuous exception to this willingness to accept facts - no matter how disappointing they are

Why cause Palestine is magically different? Roughly less than 7 million ppl absorbed by a collective of nation states numbering 300 million would be easy, fun and fast to do.

Annexation and Right of Relocation would be far easier than Arab League, Fatah or HAMAS' to Officially Recog Little Satan, swap ambassadors and renounce intentions to destroy a democratic member of the UN.

Might as well get started nowGrEaT sAtAn'S gIrLfRiEnDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09760252542953109449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-26080224312895073432011-05-26T23:57:54.007-04:002011-05-26T23:57:54.007-04:00Actually Jonny, the 'Palestinian' demograp...Actually Jonny, the 'Palestinian' demographic threat is a myth.

A big, fat, Arafat-esque BS story.

Regards,
Rob MillerFreedom Fighterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13649470110087808596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-19784532124612963572011-05-26T15:09:50.657-04:002011-05-26T15:09:50.657-04:00Haha, well I may just be a boy...
I see your poin...Haha, well I may just be a boy...

I see your point about "right of relocation/annexation" but if we're talking rockets, how much buffer will ever be acceptable? If Hamas already has the capability to launch their Iran junk 60km - and what's to stop that range increasing - there will never be an acceptable situation. BUT, Bibi has committed to two-state, so the beat goes on and Israel will regrettably burden unacceptable risk.

I see your Grozny scenario, but it still doesn't imply "indefensible". It just says gruesome and more superficial Euro alienation.

I also take umbrage with your "deceitful" remarks. Our Pres. doesn't have a vindictive, nefarious anti-Israel agenda and his insistence that a Palestinian state be demilitarized, Hamas/Fatah non-starter status, no UN nonsense gets ignored.Jonnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17580393981792626607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-15497309100377208632011-05-26T12:04:34.022-04:002011-05-26T12:04:34.022-04:00Incorrect Jonny Boy, the recent rocket wars of the...Incorrect Jonny Boy, the recent rocket wars of the Strip and Hiz'B'Allah simply make the ancient borders - well, decorum prohibits the 1st tho't - but kinda dumb, uninformed or deceitful comes to mind.

Faith in the IDF actually drives rejecting the borders. One lucky rocket hit on a skyscraper in Tel Aviv and the result will be more like Grozny in the West Bank than the totally benign endeavours in the Strip's Cast Lead or the Lebanon blitz in 07.

And all the fighting will be done in heavy innocent civilian rich turf.

Annexation and Right of Relocation make more sense than 1967 time bordersGrEaT sAtAn'S gIrLfRiEnDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09760252542953109449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-23208771735418497532011-05-21T12:51:36.378-04:002011-05-21T12:51:36.378-04:00If I were in charge of Israel, I would agree to &#...If I were in charge of Israel, I would agree to 'give back' all the 'Palestinian' territory in Jordan. It is nine times larger than the land in Israel and there would be no demographic problems down the line.

Why try to make Israel give back 10% when 90% is not even in their control?

It is ethnic cleansing pure and simple. I am sick and tired of the situation. Either let Israel have defendable borders or let them disarm their neighbors. Arabs will never allow a Jewish state near them voluntarily. Fortunately, they are terrible at making war.

DonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-80209037739313246062011-05-20T22:59:15.720-04:002011-05-20T22:59:15.720-04:00Obama is a jokeObama is a jokeWinstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02058643406189544769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6719362718346107647.post-36992509268519792612011-05-20T16:00:21.426-04:002011-05-20T16:00:21.426-04:00Off the dome of this pro-Israel reader, the existe...Off the dome of this pro-Israel reader, the existential threat to the Jewish state is demographic not rockets. Either it becomes minority Jewish or it becomes apartheid - both a no-no. I tend to have more faith in the IDF (gee, I dunno because of its victorious track record) so "indefensible" is an overstatement, BiBi.Jonnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17580393981792626607noreply@blogger.com
