Seven Days In May

ECOMCON!

Perhaps the most prolific of all regime changes - l' Coup d'état - is most noticeable for the track record on foreign turf. A coup occurring for Great Satan is more than unthinkable - it's shocking!

Thusly this suspect piece about a mini coup makes great reading and has some charm - after all - the discombobulation about the Abottabad (Abottagood - nicht wahr?) raid that haj'd OBL to the perfumed gardens of Paradise, the staged pics about watching a raid that may not have had vids at all and the weird deets about 44 college professor approach to the raid.

The unverified hot gossip and salty sass paints a crazy pic that Madame Sec HRC, CIA's Panetta, DefSec Gates along with P4 engineered a mini temp coup and circumvented 44's Jarret influenced phobia about the funintended consequences with airborning in less than 50 rowdy night owning assassins right in the center of Pakistan's Baluch Regiment surrounded by PAK Army sites

"...What Valerie Jarrett, and the president, did not know is that Leon Panetta had already initiated a program that reported to him –and only him, involving a covert on the ground attack against the compound."

"...There had been a push to invade the compound for several weeks if not months, primarily led by Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates, David Petraeus, and Jim Clapper.  The primary opposition to this plan originated from Valerie Jarrett, and it was her opposition that was enough to create uncertainty within President Obama.  Obama would meet with various components of the pro-invasion faction, almost always with Jarrett present, and then often fail to indicate his position.

"...This situation continued for some time, though the division between Jarrett/Obama and the rest intensified more recently, most notably from Hillary Clinton.  She was livid over the president’s failure to act (and formed an alliance with Panetta to launch the raid).

"...As for Jarrett, her concern rested on two primary fronts.  One, that the military action could fail and harm the president’s already weakened standing with both the American public and the world.  Second, that the attack would be viewed as an act of aggression against Muslims, and further destabilize conditions in the Middle East.

Great Satan Unbound!

Oh it's true bay bee!

As Best Defense (the best blog on earth!) creator and Pulitzer Prizer protagonist sagely saged - the recent hit on the highest levels of aQ Command sho am be vital meds for Great Satan and her hot posse of hyper puissant fans!

Kinda like the "What Would The Ancient Greeks Do" Carnage and Culture cat so sweetly sirens -

"...1) The world must now realize that the domestic antiwar movement is dead, kaput; it cares not a whit whether we assassinate bin Laden or a son of Qaddafi or go into Libya. Everything is on the table now and there are no self-restraints, no snickers on The Daily Show, no quirky insider winks on Letterman, no Barbara Streisand crazy faxes. A Nobel peace laureate is now the Left’s totem and he can send quite deadly Americans on quite deadly missions as he sees fit — and without worry about a New York Times op-ed barrage or an ACLU lawsuit.

"...That gives the U.S. newfound advantages, a veritable blank check, from keeping Guantanamo open indefinitely to using a Cheney “assassination” team and valuable water-boarded intelligence wherever it wishes to. A Harold Koh is not going to be filing any more lawsuits against his government — he is the government.

"...2) For all the talk of “leading from behind” and the quagmire in Libya, the truth is that the U.S. military remains preeminent and transcends the administration in power at any given time. It won the Iraq war, and could easily, if unleashed, take out Qaddafi. The odds are still that it can stabilize Afghanistan. It is hard to imagine another country pulling off an operation of the sort that killed bin Laden.

"...A “post-America” is simply a choice not to utilize its resources and power in a way it most certainly could with dispatch and success — as we see, in contrast, from the agonizing efforts of the British and French in Libya, or Russian anti-terrorism incompetence.

"...3) There is much talk of a payback to come. But the triumphalism of unapologetically celebrating the death of bin Laden also conveys a newfound confidence, or perhaps even fatalism, a sort of Bring it on, let’s get it over with once and for all. We will see that ‘whatever’ attitude with Pakistan, whose yelps about violation of its airspace will soon give way to the reality that American public opinion considers it not an ally, not even a neutral, but a veritable enemy that has done more harm to this country than Cuba, North Korea, or Venezuela ever dreamed of.

"...Should Obama wish to deal toughly with the Pakistanis, he has public support, and of course the option of much closer relations with India, in and outside of Afghanistan. The public wants the Pakistan two-step to end.

"...4) Radical Islam has been incrementally and steadily weakened over the last decade. It has not repeated a 9/11-like operation. There are Bush-era antiterrorism protocols in place, embraced or expanded by Obama, that make terrorism far harder. We have killed thousands of Islamists in Anbar Province and in Afghanistan. The Arab world is fragmented, in open revolt, and the Arab Street is incapable of voicing, as it once did, solidarity with bin Laden. Obama knows this better than anyone, so talks of ‘reset’ even as he keeps the Bush antiterrorism protocols unchanged.

"...Whether the trigger for this wave of Middle Eastern unrest and rebellion was the removal of Saddam and the establishment of a democracy in Iraq, or a Soviet-like implosion of failed autocratic government throughout the Middle East, it matters little.

"...At least for now, Middle East dictatorships in extremis are claiming as their one saving grace their antiterrorism and anti-al-Qaeda credentials, and, likewise, those in the streets seeking to destroy these Middle East authoritarians are claiming just about the same. Both groups are probably lying, but their rhetoric at least is predicated on the fact that bin Laden & Co. are now losers in a way they were praised as winners between 2001 and 2003.

The retreatists also know a Great Satan unbound will totally queer the mix on their pet peeves and binding proposals - as if running away from Iraq and AFPAK will instantly blossom a new cool age of coolness, love and hap hap happiness or that sucking up to OBL fans in HAMAS will be perceived as a strong horse.

As best understood - Americans are crazy and unpredictable in war time. The OBL raid is a powerful reminder - and those of us who faced idiotic and almost frightened academs this week tut tutting our wild assetted LOLZ celebrations (often with a new drink called the OBL - two shots and 'a splash of water') - totally get it. America will go anywhere and do anything, anytime she wants. She will not be 'tamed' or 'bound'

And Great Satan's enemies get it too.

Retreatists

Boring!

As Great Satan fans cheer and lol repeatedly, without modesty or restraint about Seal Team Six's sexyful  Abootabootybad actionable activity actions - the retreatists rear their mis shapen heads.

In this poisonous mindset - now is the time to reshape Great Satan's diplopolititary dealings with the m"Hammedist world

"...The United States should seize upon the death of bin Laden to promote urgent peace negotiations with the Taliban leadership. At the same time, drone attacks against militants in Pakistan, which destabilise the country and arouse fierce anti-American sentiment, should be halted. The killing of bin Laden was a clear success for US Special Forces, but many, indeed perhaps most, counter-terrorist operations are counterproductive as they inflame opinion and arouse hate. New terrorists are created rather than old ones tamed.

"...There also remains the unresolved Arab-Israel conflict, which has long been a major cause of Muslim and Arab hostility to the United States, and to the West in general. Will Obama’s new stature and authority, earned from the elimination of bin Laden, give him the political muscle he needs to deal with Israel’s far right government? Nothing is less certain.

"...Instead of welcoming the recent reconciliation of Fatah and Hamas as a major step towards Israeli negotiations with a united Palestinian movement, the United States has followed Israel’s lead in condemning it. Israel wants to divide the Palestinians precisely in order to avoid negotiations. In Washington, Israel’s friends in Congress are pressing for a ban on US aid to any Palestinian government that includes Hamas.

"...The democratic wave sweeping across the Arab world won’t tolerate US complicity in Israel’s decades-long oppression of the Palestinians. Egypt’s new leadership has already urged the United States to recognise Palestinian statehood and has announced that it will break the cruel siege of Gaza by opening the Rafah crossing on a permanent basis.

"...If the United States is to salvage its battered image in the Arab and Muslim world it must heed the new trend in the region. The killing of bin Laden may give US opinion a moment of triumphalism, but it needs to be followed by a major re-think of US policies. Only then will Americans be safe.

Uh wait  - say what now?

Talking with Taliban? Please. New offensives are annihilating Taliban and their 1995 class of recruits and old hand survivors. The only peace negotiations Great Satan and NATO need to hear from Taliban begins with their screams of GOD! PLEASE! STOP!

Palestine? LOL? Sorry Paddy boy - for whatever reasons - Americans are not particularly interested in anything intolerant rocket rich OBL fanboys in the world's first freely elected suicide regime have to say about anything. The Arab Spring proves the Little Satan Palestine Forever Quest is about as important as Season Three's box set of the X Files.

There is much to say about a new approach from Great Satan to certain elements in the world though - true enough.

And it needs to be mean and scary.

That Valuable Ally

As former General B says - offing OBL "...marks the most significant U.S. victory to date in the war on terrorism. Its full consequences may not be known for months or even years, but the violent death of Al Qaeda’s leader in Pakistan during a U.S. strike is without question a "game changer."

And that includes changing the game with Great Satan's 'valuable ally' - her only client new clear army with a fakebelieve nation/state attached - the one, the only - Land of the Pure

"...It is, sadly and inevitably, the beginning of a new chapter in an epic saga of death, destruction, deception and degeneration in Pakistan. If Americans are confused about exactly what Pakistan is up to, they need to get in line. Pakistanis are more confused -- utterly so.

"...This confusion has been carefully cultivated by a national elite whose singular focus is the accumulation of wealth, at all costs. In the near-decade since 9/11, Pakistan's generals, judges, politicians, and bureaucrats have constructed two separate and equally effective narratives. To the West, they sold the bin Laden version of Pakistan: a fanatical nation, full of restless natives armed to the teeth with hatred and -- if the West wasn't careful -- nukes.

"...To ordinary Pakistanis, they sold the Ugly American version of the rest of the world: a big bad Uncle Sam and friends who were always burning Korans, knighting Salman Rushdies, and violating the Land of the Pure

All the mixed signals totally mixed up about the raid on OBL's lair just down the street from Kakul Warcraft Academy with several regiments of PAK army based all about confirms all the bad vibes  ppl have had about Pakistan for eons.

The operational aspects alone are amazingly brazen

"...How did the helos elude the Pakistani air defense network? Did they spoof transponder codes? Were they painted and tricked out with Pakistan Air Force equipment?

Or consider

"...It doesn't take 40 minutes to start to scramble planes, or get troops to Abbottabad, and there is no getting into the town by land or air without the expressed consent of Pakistan's security establishment. This may not have been an official joint operation, but it was almost certainly a collective effort.

Pakistan” is, above all, the Pakistani army and secret services, whose members are mostly of Punjabi descent. They have one purpose in life: fighting India.

"...Keeping bin Laden close, and seemingly protected within the Pakistani secret services, sent a message to the U.S.: if you favor India over Pakistan, we will turn him loose.

"...Now, the bin Laden bomb has been defused, but the problem of the Pakistani military remains. The end of the war on terrorism will not occur in Afghanistan but in Pakistan. Through a variety of measures, including cutting U.S. equipment supplies, the Pakistani military must be neutralized. In a more perfect world, India and Pakistan should someday be reunified or, at least, reconciled.

Sweet!

Sweet!

In a 40 minute killer kinetic kaleidoscope of enhanced proportions - Great Satan extracted sweet payback, revenge and justice on al Qaeda super villain OBL.

The chopper borne strike on a compound in Pakistan (where else - nicht wahr?) literally air dropped rowdy revenge driven American Navy Seals right in al Qaeda's command lair.

"...A house eight times larger than its neighbors, with a seven-foot wall and valued at $1 million. The house had no phone of television and the residents burned their trash. The house had high windows and few points of access, and U.S. officials concluded it had been built to hide someone."

This is significant.

1st off - pretty cool to realize that OBL realized his death was imminent as the sounds of gunfire came closer to his immediate environs. Like il Duce, der führer or S'Ddam - the awesome knowledge that the end was at hand as Great Satan confronted him for surrender or a haj to the perfumed gardens of paradise. And like al Zarqawi in Iraq -  the last thing OBL ever saw was a po'd American about to kill him

Equally hot - of all the nations that aQ has attacked and tormented over the years - only Great Satan had the brain power, will power, staying power and fire power to hunt him down, visit death upon him and in a fun, friendly 'forget you' way - hauled off the body as booty.

Trophylicious.  And a wonderfully op to poke Pakistan about Mullah Omar

Reveling and celebrating the timely demise of OBL - sticky sweet as it is - is certainly not the end - or even the beginning of the end.

Yet it may well be the end of the beginning.
