Which One Of These Is Not Like The Other?

General consensus of 44's tour, speeches and such seems uniformly "Not bad - no harm done though not much good done either"

Playing up to crowd -- the horrors of 9/11 and the Holocaust, two things that tend to send certain Arabs into delight or denial -- aside, there were some serious uncool relativistic moments

In fact two moments -- the speech in Pyramidland and Das Deutsch Tour actually appear quite significant.

The iconic Dr Leo Strauss -- the founding father of 'Which one of these is not like the other?' may actually help explain.

Strauss pointed out that relativism (and realism too) shared a dangerously retarded "easy going belief that all points of view are equal -- hence none really worth passionate argument, deep analysis or stalwart defense."

Thus -- 44's acknowledgedment that Little Satan is here to stay and despite whatever twisted dreams her enemies may dream -- she ain't going anywhere anytime soon and that downplaying Holocaust or denying it ever happened -- though sweet indeed were instantly marginalized by chucking Palestine into the mix.

Currently Palestine is paying a heavy price for specific members of Arab League's use of Palestinians as strategic minorities, ex sovereigns who repeatedly started wars of aggression against a democratic member of the UN and repeatedly lost. Then those same sovereigns cut Peace deals with Little Satan and abandoned their own people.

Instead of assimilating them into loyal productive servants of the regime - Arab League ensured Palestinians became stateless persons for generations.

Comparing industrialized genocide to incompetent regimes (that learned the hard way not to send their panzers, combat jets and conscript infantry against Little Satan in open combat) is suspect and incorrect revisionism.

Another example is visiting Buchenwald - right before hitting Dresden. Kinda suggests a sort of moral equivalence between industrialized genocide and the bombings of Deutsch cities -- bombings, that were designed to bring an end to a genocidal regime.

  2. Interesting article on Strauss you linked.

I doubt much will come of Obama's Cairo speech. It can't hurt to reach out, yes, but you have to have a willing partner who'll grasp your hand. Don't look for that from most of the middle east.

  3. Dynamite duo, Courtney ;)

Barry's speech was a mix of platitudes and Bill Clintonesque lies. Muslims didn't invent and create all the things he claimed; and his Buchenwald-liberating "great uncle" didn't tell him about Buchenwald at all; and his granddad wasn't there.

But Barry expects people to swallow his lies.

As for his comments about Israel, note that he's leaning on Israel to make concessions, and NOT on the Palestinians.

    'Nuff said.

  4. You hit the nail right on the head. Obama (or Stinky if you wish [his initials are BO] will do anything now to get his way. And Little Satan, who has stood by Great Satan for all these years, will have to pay a very heavy price.
