1967

"Got to admit - it's getting better - a little better all the time (Can't get no worse)"

Aside from the delightful little Sgt Pepper ditties the All You Need Is Love Summer of Love bequeathed the world, there are also those magical pre war 1967 borders betwixt Little Satan and what is now termed something something Palestine.

While there is very real cause celeb to LOL the establishment of the "Oscweim Borders"  as a dangerous tempting temptation for surrounding nation states to launch akinda India like "Cold Start" attack and actually sever Little Satan in half.

In fact, the recent war games at the super secret daemoneoconic "Committee Of Five" collegiate coven predicted such an event:

Hiz'B'Allah and Syrian high jinkerey and threat of war suckered most of Little Satan's ground forces to Little Satan's North  40 (with a wicked thoughtful aperitf about striking, clearing and holding turf all the way to Litani River) just in time for a strike by a loose coalition of 'hostile nation states' that blitz'd out of 'East Palestine.' Reaching the Med, this 'enemy coalition' cut off Little Satan's population centers from the bulk of her army.

Or, a preventive pre emptive strike could trap may hold off Little Satan's IDF in civilian rich turf as Syria attempts to retake the ancient artillery sites on those golanilicious Golan Heights.

Effectively judging that 48 hours was the max time before foreign Peace Mongers interfered, East Palestine is hot real estate for a conventional old school set piece battle.

This is actually old news - 43 lol'd the 1967 idea way back before Surge Time

"...As part of a final peace settlement, Little Satan must have secure and recognized borders, which should emerge from negotiations between the parties. … In light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Little Satan populations centers, it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome of final status negotiations will be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949."

Creating East Palestine also is a blessing for asymmetrical warfare ala rocketry. Most of Little Satan's cities and towns - busy making money, creating stuff and living large - (larger than any one else in 1000 kilometers in the AO's only fun, free choice functional democrazy) will be within range of nearly any missiles and rockets currently collected and deployed by a myriad of creepy creeps and non state actor outers.

Yet, all the jaw flapping about giving up turf magically acquired via victorious desperate counterattacks may be highly suspect:

"...It may well be that the administration knows that nothing will happen in the coming year, as Palestinians turn toward internal politics and next year’s elections, and seek to avoid negotiations.

"...The president suggested as much when he said of the new Fatah-Hamas unity agreement, “How can one negotiate with a party that has shown itself unwilling to recognize your right to exist? In the weeks and months to come, Palestinian leaders will have to provide a credible answer to that question.”

"...That is a good challenge, which they will fail to meet. If European or Arab leaders complain about the lack of progress, U.S. officials can refer back to that passage and say, “What can we do? We can’t ask the Israelis to negotiate with Hamas.”

Forsaking Right of Return and the end status of J'Lem - 44 seems to be hot to do stuff like borders and security. Raising a worthy quiz about reality.

Also it is note worthy to note the 1967 Borders could also be nom d'guerr'd "NakBah Borders."

If a new and independent Palestine conducts Westphalian Statecraft - creating Mutual Military Assistance Pacts, leasing bases to foreign militaries, crafting alliances etc., events could spiral out of control with funintended consequences of immense  proportions.

If one K'Ssam too many starts exploding skyscrapers in Tel Aviv or her near abroad is compassed with scary armies by governments - or semi state backed non state terroristical actors  - that routinely call for Little Satan's destruction - Little Satan could launch a preventive pre emption herself - to wipe clean and draw again the face of the Middle East - resulting in an even more bigger Little Satan - that will make 1967 look quite tame.

Off the dome of this pro-Israel reader, the existential threat to the Jewish state is demographic not rockets. Either it becomes minority Jewish or it becomes apartheid - both a no-no. I tend to have more faith in the IDF (gee, I dunno because of its victorious track record) so "indefensible" is an overstatement, BiBi.

If I were in charge of Israel, I would agree to 'give back' all the 'Palestinian' territory in Jordan. It is nine times larger than the land in Israel and there would be no demographic problems down the line.

Why try to make Israel give back 10% when 90% is not even in their control?

It is ethnic cleansing pure and simple. I am sick and tired of the situation. Either let Israel have defendable borders or let them disarm their neighbors. Arabs will never allow a Jewish state near them voluntarily. Fortunately, they are terrible at making war.

Incorrect Jonny Boy, the recent rocket wars of the Strip and Hiz'B'Allah simply make the ancient borders - well, decorum prohibits the 1st tho't - but kinda dumb, uninformed or deceitful comes to mind.

Faith in the IDF actually drives rejecting the borders. One lucky rocket hit on a skyscraper in Tel Aviv and the result will be more like Grozny in the West Bank than the totally benign endeavours in the Strip's Cast Lead or the Lebanon blitz in 07.

And all the fighting will be done in heavy innocent civilian rich turf.

Annexation and Right of Relocation make more sense than 1967 time borders

Haha, well I may just be a boy...

I see your point about "right of relocation/annexation" but if we're talking rockets, how much buffer will ever be acceptable? If Hamas already has the capability to launch their Iran junk 60km - and what's to stop that range increasing - there will never be an acceptable situation. BUT, Bibi has committed to two-state, so the beat goes on and Israel will regrettably burden unacceptable risk.

I see your Grozny scenario, but it still doesn't imply "indefensible". It just says gruesome and more superficial Euro alienation.

I also take umbrage with your "deceitful" remarks. Our Pres. doesn't have a vindictive, nefarious anti-Israel agenda and his insistence that a Palestinian state be demilitarized, Hamas/Fatah non-starter status, no UN nonsense gets ignored.

Actually Jonny, the 'Palestinian' demographic threat is a myth.

A big, fat, Arafat-esque BS story.

@Jonny - no diss meant on use of the d word. (or the boy - i mistakenly tho't it was part of your nom d'guerre - forgiveness please) OTOH, there are several metric tonnes of cats who enjoy pursuing the old 'Phased Plan" (definition available in the GsGf Vocab) the PLOld school terrorists advocate.

Also a significant buffer zone in missile talk means time. Time to react, time to intercept and of course - time for East Palestine to deny, blame non state rocket rich creeps and adapt Pakistan's Writ of State phobia.

There are simply no good reasons available for any serious thinking person to seriously advocate the 67 borders.

Since Nazi time Deutschland and Imperial Nippon screamed "God! Please! Stop!" there have been born more than 100 nation states and the movements of hundreds of borders. Border moving - seldom agreeable to everyone - yet nation states accepted them as a settled border was better than war.

Germany accepted losing Prussia, Russia accepted the secession of Kazakstan and Serbs are handling the idea of Kosovo. The Greeks are handling Turkey's illegit occupation of Cyprus. Syria is doing just fine without Golan.

Even in 3rd world states gave up treasured aspirations rather than shed blood forever - Somalia gave up Ogaden, Guatemala stopped demanding Belize and Indonesia finally gave up East Timor.

There is one glaring, bizarro conspicuous exception to this willingness to accept facts - no matter how disappointing they are

Why cause Palestine is magically different? Roughly less than 7 million ppl absorbed by a collective of nation states numbering 300 million would be easy, fun and fast to do.

Annexation and Right of Relocation would be far easier than Arab League, Fatah or HAMAS' to Officially Recog Little Satan, swap ambassadors and renounce intentions to destroy a democratic member of the UN.

Might as well get started now

GSGF, no diss taken. My ex-girlfriends will tell you I'm boyish, but they're probably not couching it with "charm".

No doubt that threats to our buddy are real and range from insidious, diabolical, and existential to just plain ol' rhetorical summer camp fantasy talk. I just urge caution not to lump those bummers with anyone in this or previous US admins. That's a whole other spectrum. But your concern about 67 borders is duly noted and appreciated by me.

We can probably agree any deal is just a big peut-être - no one on the scene is charming enough to broker, and with whom is a mystery. But '67 basis is obv. more realistic than relocation.

Even the totally secular kibbutz founder types like Dayan loved the land. Sure, some would be convinced today of a Herzl/South America deal. And hey, I'm sympathetic to the notion because the region is a never ending hassle and sort of dumpy, but my peeps are probably gonna want to stay, rockets or otherwise.

And yeah all 3 majors say it's very special - intractability.
