Hagelicious!

Unbehagen!

Horribly embarrassing on an epic scale - like a consort bizzy at a party giving lap dances to everyone there except her escort. While the Little Satan Lobby took star billing at the maybe future Def Sec's Senate Hello, Lobby chiz is really way down on the OMG! Say What? list
After all, the former Nebraska senator is the same cat who has consistently opposed sanctions against Iran. He is the same person who wanted Great Satan to support Iranian membership in the World Trade Organization. The same person who voted against designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist group (at a time when the IRGC was orchestrating the murder of American troops in Iraq).

The same person who refused to sign a letter asking the European Union to label Hiz"B"Allah a terror group. The same person who urged 43 to offer Iran “direct, unconditional, and comprehensive talks.” The same person who called for establishing a diplomatic mission in Tehran. The same person who dismissed “a military strike against Iran” as “not a viable, feasible, responsible option.”

The same person who wrote that a nuclear Iran might be tolerable because “sovereign nation-states possessing nuclear weapons capability (as opposed to stateless terrorist groups) will often respond with some degree of responsible, or at least sane, behavior.”

Cheese and Rice!! No wonder Persia's Preacher Command dig Hagelisciousness at Pentagon.

Horribly embarassing, yes. For the reason outlined by Walt. Israel owns Congress. The parasite owns the host. And what happens to the host eventually in all cases? You betcha. Patiently form alliances, friendships and watch and wait, Russia and China. You will endure in the Mideast. The US is on its (let's hope not too bloody, Iraq redux) way out.

F**K Mearshimer, Walt, Hagel and the horse they rode in on, anonymous (these folks are always anonymous, which says a lot about them).

Guess what? Israel is a foreign policy bargain for the US. We give them money to buy US arms to defend themselves, 80% of which is spent here and boosts our economy.

In exchange, we have complete use of their ports and other facilities, access to Israeli HuMint ( priceless since we've downsized our own intel) and the aid of SOTA Israeli high-tech for joint weapons projects like the Green Pine Radar.

Israel also guards NATO's southern underbelly, and is one of the few real allies we have with a significant military capacity.

According to Jane's, cutting off all aid to Israel would actually cost the U.S. $10 to $15 billion per year more than we spend now in deployment, facilities rental and lost sales, not to mention loss of access to Israeli intel and high tech.

Of course, to the trio mentioned above, and perhaps you too, it isn't about Israel. it's about Jews.

As for Israel 'owning' Congress, we give them far less than what we spend on Muslim countries. Pakistan alone gets $7 bil in baksheesh just for sometimes allowing convoys to get through to Afghanistan when they feel like it.

Hagel is owned so much by Iran that he ought to be forced to register as a foreign lobbyist, In fact, he probably is since he won't reveal who bankrolls him to the US Senate.

Crawl back under your rock now.

BTW, damned right Israel is getting closer to China. What do you expect them to do when a hostile US president says his goal is to create 'daylight' between the U.S. and Israel?

They went through this crap once with the French in '67 on the eve of the Six Day War, and they learned. I can't blame them for covering their action and anteing up their options.
