Talk Is Cheap

Super fly smart guy Michael Oren (O yeah! He got game!) shares that talk isn't always cheap (not to be confused with talking trash).

"The issue of American dialogue with Iran featured prominently in Friday's presidential debate. Barack Obama pledged "to engage in tough, direct diplomacy with Iran." John McCain denounced that notion as "naive" and "dangerous."

This exchange capped a week in which five former secretaries of state, including Henry Kissinger and Colin Powell, called for talks between the United States and Iran, and when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad assured the United Nations General Assembly that "the American empire is reaching the end of the road."

Amid all of these declarations, though, few questions were raised about the possible benefits of U.S.-Iranian talks as well as the potential pitfalls. What, for example, would be the talks' objectives -- to moderate Iranian behavior and renew Iranian-American relations or, more broadly, to recognize a new strategic order in the Middle East?

What concessions might the Iranians seek from the U.S., and which ones would America be prepared to yield? And finally, how would the discussions affect America's allies in the region, its forces in Iraq, and its strategic standing world-wide?

Any attempt to talk with Iran must take into account its previous negotiations with the international community. These began -- without preconditions -- in 2003 in talks between Iran and Britain, France and Germany.

The most recent round took place in Geneva last July. It included the chief European Union negotiator Javier Solana and William Burns, U.S. undersecretary of state for political affairs.

In exchange for opening their nuclear plants to inspection, the Iranians have been offered immunity from sanctions, membership in the World Trade Organization, and an energy partnership with Europe to modernize Iran's oil industry.

In addition, Iran would have received a fully fueled nuclear reactor to service the country's agricultural and medical needs. It would have been welcomed into a Persian Gulf security forum and enlisted in efforts to rid the Middle East of weapons of mass destruction.

Most generously, Iran could have continued to enrich uranium for verifiably peaceful purposes. Iran's response to these far-reaching concessions was consistently and categorically "no."

In addition to nuclear issues, American interlocutors, should they undertake talks, must also address the question of Iranian expansionism.

Through its Hezbollah and Hamas proxies, Iran has gained dominance over Lebanon and Gaza, and through its Baathist and Mahdist allies, has extended its influence through Syria and Iraq.

An Iranian threat looms over the Persian Gulf financial centers and beyond, to the European cities within Iranian missile range. No attempt has yet been made to induce Iran to roll back or even curtail the export of its violent revolution, nor have the global powers seriously considered such a package.

Clearly, any U.S.-Iranian dialogue must exceed previous efforts and produce a unique array of concessions and incentives. The U.S. Embassy in Tehran (closed since the 1979 hostage crisis), might be reopened, sanctions could be reduced, and Iran's regional prominence acknowledged. Assurances could also be given that the U.S. will not seek regime change and that American forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf pose no threat to Iranian security.

None of these gestures, however, are likely to alter Iranian policies. It is unclear whether Iran would even agree to reopen the U.S. Embassy. A proposal in January 2008 to establish an American visa office in Tehran, though welcomed by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, was denounced by Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a CIA ploy.

Nor are the Iranians apt to respond dramatically to any easing of the sanctions that have so far failed to persuade them to moderate. Moreover, recognizing Iranian ascendancy means legitimizing Hamas and Hezbollah while weakening America's allies in Israel, Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority.

Radical Shiite militias would also be empowered, eroding America's recent gains in Iraq and impelling Sunni states to procure their own -- possibly nuclear -- means of defense. The U.S. could abjure any hostility toward Iran. But with its forces in the area already overstretched, such promises would invariably ring empty.

Rather than improving U.S.-Iranian relations and enhancing Middle East stability, any American offer to dialogue with Iran is liable to be interpreted as a sign of American weakness, and not only in Tehran. Public opinion throughout the area will conclude that America has at last surrendered to the reality of Iranian rule. The damage to America's regional, if not global, influence may prove irreversible.

Yet dialoguing with Iran presents the even graver danger that Iran will use it as camouflage to complete its nuclear ambitions. That goal, according to U.S. and U.N. intelligence sources, could be achieved as early as 2010, and the Iranians could pass the interim blithely negotiating with the United States. And even if Iran agreed to halt the enrichment process, it might replicate the North Korean model: negotiate with the United States, agree to suspend nuclear activities, then renew them at the first opportunity

It is difficult to take issue with a presidential hopeful who views talks with Tehran as a "way to keep America safe," and with seasoned secretaries of state. However, the stakes in the proposed talks with Iran are too critical to remain unweighed.

The next president may in the end try to engage in discussions with Iran. To avoid disaster, his approach must be conducted within well-defined parameters, including the cessation of uranium enrichment by Iran and any end to its support for terrorism.

Negotiations must be time-limited as well, and accompanied by intensified sanctions and a credible military threat. The U.S. can communicate with Iran, but as a power and not a supplicant, and with leverage as well as words."

The Splurge

Curious about the "No Banker Left Behind Act" ?

Check out Debbie Hamilton's informative piece over @ Right Truth.

Curiously, though the Donkey Party has a clear majority to pass anything they want - they seem really jazzed to get the GOP on board...

Bronwen Maddox's "In Defense of America" points out that many time overseas, foreign govs - free and unfree often act like Great Satan rules the world.

Claire Berlinski's essential "The Menace From Europe" shares that in free nations, pop media drives it in the most bizzarro way.

Enter Rammstein - Deutschland's most popular group - these cats are huge in Europa too.

Fuzzed out guitars tuned so low - only a dog could hear, rolling those RRRRR's like only der fuhrer could and they obviously don't dig Great Satan's Kultur that has conquered the world - like Wonderbra, Coco Cola, Mickey Maus - and sometimes war.

Singing especial bits in English to make sure we get it - this ain't no love song.

Here's the vid for their tune "Amerika."

Mein deutsch ist veillecht ein etwas rustig, aber, heir ist ein tranzlationishe:

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in
America, America, America
When there's dancing I want to lead
even if you're whirling around alone
Let yourselves be controlled a little
I'll show you how it really goes
We're making a nice round dance
Freedom is playing on all violins
Music is coming out of the White House
and in Paris stands Mickey Mouse
We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in
America America, America
I know moves that are very useful
and I will protect you from missteps
And whoever doesn't want to dance at the end
doesn't know yet that they must
We're making a nice round dance
I will show you the way
Afrika's visited by Santa Clause
and in front of Paris stands Mickey Mouse
We're all living in America

The Coming War With Pakistan

Casting covetous analytical eyes on events in and around the Land of Pure, the data supports way more than Pakistan's new pres weighing in on the War On Terror lets on.

In July, India's Embassy in Kabul got ka lobbered with a massive truck bomb that killed over 40 innocents and sent a very direct message to India. Paul Burton, the Director of Policy at the Senlis Council explains -

" Pakistan has had this concept of Afghanistan as its client state,
and it's always endeavored to keep it in its back pocket. That's why it was so keen to get the Taliban in power, because the movement was basically born in the madrassas of Pakistan.
Now, Indians have moved into the country very quickly. They've
invested lots of money—they're building the new parliament and there are about 3,000 Indian workers in the southwest, building a road that would link Afghanistan to the Persian Gulf without going through Pakistan. At the moment, Afghanistan is entirely dependent upon Pakistan for sea access, so they're obviously very concerned about that development.

Pakistan's shadowy ISI may be playing a double game. If indeed, ISI launched the Kabul attack via proxy to deter Indian involvement in their recent client state of Afghanistan, then events since could be read in a very different light with a very different conclusion:

ISI is prepping to take Pakistan to war against Great Satan.
Since the attack on the Indian Embassy, Great Satan totally stepped up attacks in Land of the Pure's Federal unAdministrated Tribal Areas.

Drones and cruise missiles acting on actionable intell went to work.

ISI fanboy and Great Satan hater Asif Haroon Raja stretches facts a wee bit explaining that Great Satan is baring her fangs in a gleeful attack on innocents to fan war

"The month of September saw intensification of missile attacks and
each attack resulted in loss of innocent lives. So far 62 border violations have been carried out by US-ISAF forces including 36 after the takeover by PPP government in March 2008. So far 30 missile attacks have been made killing innocent people. In none of the attack any Al-Qaada operative or militant Taliban was killed."

Marine General James T. Conway points out that info ops and propaganda can be used as weaponry by Taliban fans
“Sometimes we think there’s been overt efforts on the part of the Taliban, in particular, to surround themselves with civilians so as to, at a minimum, reap an I.O. (Info Op) advantage if civilians are killed."
In an effort to avoid innocent casualties deployed as shielding for enemies, Great Satan shared intell about snatch and grabs that promptly resulted in a shooting stand off with the Pakistani army.

This is amazing. Despite being unable to impose rule of law on their own sovereign turf and appearantly having no probs with Taliban or Al Qaeda violating their precious borders - the Paki military magically appears and draws the line on Great Satan and tries to deny her righteous hits and kills?

Did ISI tip off sympathetic military units and alert Taliban allies a hit was enroute? Not once but several times?

Since Benazir's other half is now the new pres in Land of The Pure and doing some sweet talking about attacking terrorists, did ISI try a decapitation strike at Marriott Hotel?
Hey - it was the exact same M.O. (Modus Operandi or operational methodology for the unRoman) like Kabul - a giant truck packed with explosive ordinance driven and detonated by proxies.

Rehman Malik, the Pakistani prime minister's advisor for the interior claimed maybe Marriott was a decap strike gone wrong - though he never breathed ISI's name:
"An Iftar Dinner was scheduled at Marriot on September which was hosted by National Assembly Speaker Dr Fahmida Mirza and where all dignitaries including the prime minister, president, cabinet and all services chiefs were invited. However, at the eleventh hour the dinner was shifted to the Prime minster's house which saved Pakistan's entire military and political leadership."

Pakistan is now the declared battleground in this struggle by militants and their creepy spymasters to strike first against American interests before Great Satan's war machine - led by Surging General Petraeus - completes CENTCOM's prep to storm the sanctuaries of al-Qaeda in Pakistan.

"For All These Reasons"

"The nations of this chamber must present a more hopeful alternative -- a vision where people can speak freely, and worship as they choose, and pursue their dreams in liberty.

Advancing the vision of freedom serves our highest ideals, as expressed in the U.N.'s Charter's commitment to "the dignity and worth of the human person." Advancing this vision also serves our security interests.

History shows that when citizens have a voice in choosing their own leaders, they are less likely to search for meaning in radical ideologies. And when governments respect the rights of their people, they're more likely to respect the rights of their neighbors.

For all these reasons, the nations of this body must challenge tyranny as vigorously as we challenge terror. Some question whether people in certain parts of the world actually desire freedom.

This self-serving condescension has been disproved before our eyes.

From the voting booths of Afghanistan, Iraq, and Liberia, to the Orange Revolution in Ukraine and the Rose Revolution in Georgia, to the Cedar Revolution in Lebanon and the Tulip Revolution in Kyrgyzstan, we have seen people consistently make the courageous decision to demand their liberty.

For all the suggestions to the contrary, the truth is that whenever or wherever people are given the choice, they choose freedom."

The TV Police

Aside from legitimacy and control the new millennium is sweetly crashing against the world's despotries - horrid and benign and stirring things up faster than wearing a thong to Church.

Like in Saudiland. Corrupt royalty which draw the nation's wealth right out of the ground (via devices designed, developed and deployed by daemonic foreign women worshippers) royal cats owe their people nothing. No services or benefits.

Thanks to divine right Kings and nearly 5K Princes enjoy the plundering of natural resources while their own people suffer under the weight of unfree, unfun and nigh unhinged mohammedist rule.

Thanks to really cool tech (created by Great Satan - natch!) inmates or citizens of Saudiland can cable up nearly anything on TV to satiate desires subtle and gross.

Baywatch, American Idol - tons of classic and au currant satellite TV stuff (probably a few laffy taffy channels too) make their way straight into the living rooms (and , uh, bedrooms?) of Saudilanders.

And that's a prob. How can the religious police and their cleric commanders keep young people on the path to whatever, when they can go home, tune in and soak up wicked Western ways via Viacom.

Easy! Issue a fatwah.

"A fatwa is issued by a recognized religious authority in Islam. But
since there is no hierarchical priesthood or anything of the sort in Islam, a fatwa is not necessarily "binding" on the faithful.

The people who pronounce these rulings are supposed to be
knowledgable, and base their rulings in knowledge and wisdom. They need to supply the evidence from Islamic sources for their opinions, and it is not uncommon for scholars to come to different conclusions regarding the same issue."

Fatwahs are awesome - whenever one is issued, fatwah fans can go on a bloody rampage, killing, looting, jihad, raising pure heck - as long as the fatwah is appealing binding.

Like in Saudiland. Wicked TV stuff (broadcast from Gulf States) is a matter of concern for the Ministry of Virtue and Vice Prevention.

Saudi State Media (alas, there is no other type in Saudiland) has a really interesting show on shortwave radio called "Light in the Path".

Featuring Saudi Arabia's Chief Witchfinder General Judge - Sheik Saleh al-Lihedan.

A while back, this ancient hysteric cleric called for a fatwa against Great Satan in Iraq. Essentially Surge bait - suckering in hundreds of silly Saudi jihadis that were routinely incarcerated, incinerated or simply shot to pieces and left on the side of the road for a stranger to bury.

Listeners can call in and ask questions and a certain call really kicked things up a notch RE: Fatwa fallacy.

Asking about unmohammedist TV shows during Ramadan, Preacher Command nearly blew a fuse!

"I want to advise the owners of these channels, who broadcast calls
for such indecency and impudence and I warn them of the consequences. What does the owner of these networks think, when he provides seduction, obscenity and vulgarity?

Those calling for corrupt beliefs, certainly it's permissible to
kill them. Those calling for sedition, those who are able to prevent it but
don't, it is permissible to kill them.”

Whoa! Hold up! Obviously the 80 yo preacher judge guy - had no clue that State Media in Saudiland is owned by the Royal family! Kill the king?!

Faster than one could say "Don't touch that dial - We'll be right back" Royal family deployed a cadre of clerics that disputed the Preacher Judge in chief's fatwa.

And the most convincing weapon they used could eventually be turned against a ton of Saudiland's control mechanisms like the secret police, the religious police, the fashion posse and the unfun brigades.

Freedom of choice.

Counter cleric Sheik Hazim Awad in liberated and starting to function democratic Iraq, points out such a threatwah is suspect, retarded and ultimately flawed.

‘Our religion prevents Muslims from watching films that provide
seduction, obscenity and vulgarity - the real Muslim can just cancel these channels’

This is significant.

The burden for discouraging this questionable unmohammedist eye candy and witchcraft (which is a very nice way of nom de guerring Baby Jesus, Xianity and concepts like 'who so ever will'), is not on the State or the mosque - but individual will!

Those remotes can change channels and turn off TV's.

Free choice as a raison d etre could easily be applied to any control mechs, techs, fatwahs, preachers, militias - even corrupt, kleptocratic, autocratic despotic tyranny monarchies.

The regional reach of the most likely soon to be retired Witchfingerer General Shiek is interesting. Counter clerical cussing from Iraq, Jordan, Palestine and the Gulf States reveal that alien concepts from the wild wacky wicked West - like free choice, fun and prepping for this life instead of racing to the next are taking hold.

Great Satan brought more to the ME than ballots, M 16's and Surge.

The ever avuncular and nigh indestructable cardiac wise original Vulcan gangsta Regime Changing VP Cheney hit Hillbillyland Friday to tour again hallowed ground.

Way back in the last millennium, as the most uncivil war raged across, through and all around Chattaboogie - the VP had blood kin that fought at the bloodiest battle of them all. The VP has peridoically visited Chickamauga Battlefield and hit the hood for the 145th Anni and recreation.

By 1863, Confederacy was in a terrible bind - 4 July saw the loss at two diff battlefields hundreds of miles apart - decisive disaster on two fronts. One at Gettysburg and one at Vicksburg.

Chased out of Tenneesee, Confederacy deployed her all stars like Hood, Longstreet and Bragg to delay, repel and defeat the Yankees long enough to draw one last time on the war weary reserves of Dixie.

Confederacy desperately needed a prestige victory.

Turning several square K of pure heaven into pure heck for three days, Confederacy fought one of the first modern battles tactics wise at Chickamauga.

Both sides were lined up - Confederacy facing west and Union facing East through thickets, woods, hills and dells the line was drawn, reserves were available and everbody knew if Confederacy couldn't stop Union here - she probabaly never would.

Thanks to a goofy screw up in communiques, Yankee generals pulled a brigade out of the line to plug an imaginary gap to the north. General Longstreet threw his entire corps through the gap, shattering Union lines, annihilating and enveloping the Yankee left flank.

The rout was infectious and broken units fled back to Chattaboogie, while others fought to the death. Advanced weaponry was in play at Chickamauga - like Colonel Wilder's 'Lightning Brigade' - horse infantry - freshly equiped with the world's first repeater rifles.

These cats kept the air alive with hot lead for over several hours and probably saved the Union army from a defeat far worse than the battlefield could have or should have delivered.

In von Clausewitz's must read doctrinaire "Vom Kriege" (On War for the English speaking) instant follow up is critical.

Every instinct will cry out to the commanders for pause, rest - refreshment.

"Once the great victory is gained, the next question is not about
rest, not about taking breath, not about considering, not about reorganising, etc., etc., but only of pursuit of fresh blows wherever necessary, of the capture of the enemy's capital, of the attack of the armies of his allies, or of whatever else appears to be a rallying point for the enemy. "

General Bragg choose not to pursue the Union - he later led a slow leisurely siege of Union at Chattaboogie which only served to lengthen the war until Union busted out and fought non stop to Atlanta - where General Sherman debut'd the concept of Total War licking Georgia's peach clean till she begged him to hit South Cackalacky who had started the entire sorry mess to begin with.

Perhaps the VP wanted to visit again sacred soil - shed red with the blood of Americans fighting Americans putting paid to slave trading states rights, where his own blood line fought against bad odds and remarkably survived with a battlefield commission.

As one of the original Vulcans - a key belief is that nothing is ever truly random.

Most likely VP Cheney needed one last time as VP to tour, reflect and pay tribute to the field of battle where a war that was almost won was almost lost.

While looking for Iranian reaction to Tzipi's primary win in Little Satan - ran across this interesting bit in Preacheropolis.

"Deploying Arab forces in Gaza will only serve Israel: Larijani. Tehran Times Political Desk

TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Wednesday condemned a proposal to deploy Arab forces in the Gaza Strip.

“This move is (aimed at) ensuring the security of Israel, not at restoring the rights of the oppressed Palestinian nation,” Larijani told an open session of parliament A plan has been proposed by some Arab states, led by Egypt, to deploy Arab forces in the Gaza Strip, allegedly to end clashes between rival Palestinian factions, mainly Hamas and Fatah.

Various Palestinian groups have vociferously rejected the idea, saying itis a new plot meant to perpetuate the Israeli occupation and undermine the Palestinian resistance.

Last week, Laijani had a telephone conversation with Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya to discuss the issue. Haniya criticized the Arab League for pursuing the interests of the Zionist regime rather than Palestine’s during the phone call. "

Ali Larijani-- may be one of Ahmadinejad's opponents in next year's presidential campaign--is sending a very clear signal to the Arab world.

1. Iran doesn't dig Little Satan's plots to conspire against Palestine, and

2. a warning about any hooked up Arab alliance against Persia's Arab allies will be regarded as uncool.

Islamic Republic has always been eager and willing to voltiguerre mayhem and destabilization as regional projection - every since she was born in Revolution.

Kevin Sullivan points out why this may be significant.

"Such a joint-Arab action on the part of Arab states, theoretically, could lay the foundation for a regional defense force. Worse yet for Tehran, if said force proves itself adept at maintaining stability in the region, the model could then be applied elsewhere (Iraq or Lebanon anyone?). "

"As long as Iran can keep regional focus on the Israelis, it makes their mischievous behavior in Palestine and beyond a little more tolerable.

"Hamas and PIJ, from an Arab state perspective, can target Israelis as much as they'd like. However, once those Iranian surrogates start exchanging fire with Arab forces in Gaza, the whole dynamic alters.

Think this is farfetched? Keep in mind, one of the driving forces behind last year's Annapolis conference was the regional concern over a more ambitious and hegemonic Iran.

If Arab nations find the ability to join forces and address the Palestinian crisis, it might weaken Iran's standing in the Middle East. "

Try And Stop Us

JCS's chaircat Navy Admiral Mike Mullen trekked to Islamabad (NPI!) to read the riot act to the newly democratically elected cats in the Land of the Pure.

Essentially - Afghanistan is probably about as good as it's going to get unless Pakistan's No Go zones are magically xformed into kill zones. Like a corrupted MP3 file (broken record for last millenniumists) the beat on repeat is a slow bleed. Every winter things die down, every spring and summer action heats up.

Admiral Mike says

"These two nations are inextricably linked in a common insurgency
that crosses the border between them."

This is significant. Search for "Pakistan Cease Fire" sometime. After 7 years, Pakistan is still fighting the most retarded type campaign since Ba'Athist Iraq tried to refight the Battle of Moscow in 2003. Pakistan's military - after years of nothing but love from Great Satan seems to fire up a campaign just in time to declare a cease fire - cut a few deals - suffer intolerant violence - often aimed at innocents and the entire sorry process gets re crunk.

And for what? For some magical no go tribal zones?

Great Satan obviously stepped up the missile strikes and honestly took into consideration the PR about innocent civilian shielding being deployed by Afghani Taliban, Pakistani Taliban and Al Qaeda intolerants.

The ever adaptive, ever ingenius military op cats plotted a snatch and grab on a few desired jerks and Pakistan military alledgedly opened fire - giving cred to a Pakistani General's caveat that Land of Pure allowed violations of her precious, sovereign turf from only Talibans or Al Qaeda. The same cats they've cut deal after deal with. The same cats who routinely attack their own citizens.

Great Satan actually crossing the border is a very nice way to head things off and soothe tension.

Vikram Singh at Center for a New American Security explains

"With a raid, you are less likely to inflict significant civilian
casualties, which has been a major problem. Also, with a raid, you are more likely to be able to have more intelligence collection come out of an operation. That is to say, you can capture, rather than just kill."

Since Pakistan backed off of her General's tacit admission that Taliban in Afghanistan gives the Land of the Pure "Strategic Depth" for that great battle with India one day, Great Satan has resumed missile strikes.

Fair enough -
"We don't know what happened on that aircraft carrier 10 or so days ago in the Indian Ocean, where all of our senior top military brass met all of their senior top military brass. But, you know, the timing is -- the timing is interesting."

True that. Just like those recent missile redux strikes.

Right now not much if anything is known about that covert tete' a tete'. Most likely Great Satan's regime changers pointed out that Land of the Pure's largest foreign aid donor is probably not too concerned with religious fatwas or opinions, feelings or thoughts of ineffective militaries that cannot control their own borders or maintain their state's monopoly on violence.

Instead, perhaps - Land of the Pure should carefully consider what the opinions, feelings and thoughts of Great Satan are.

“There’s going to be other wars. I’m sorry to tell you, there’s going to
be other wars. We will never surrender, but there will be other wars.”
Great Satan's foreign policy in Future World will most likely include the robust and relentless exercise of American military power, humanitarian interventions and Regime Changes - either the fun friendly way like in Pakistan or the old school way at the point of an M16.

Either way is fine.

True security, a real peace (def'd as way more than the absence of war) can truly only be achieved when all nations enjoy egalitarian, tolerant societies with an uncensored media, transparent, periodic elections, militaries under civilian control, independent judiciaries under elected gov oversight and nat'l treasuries under public scrutiny.

Ex Navy fly guy, GOP nominee McCain has recruited a saavy collection of Vulcans, Neocons, America Firsters and Straussian Purists to advise and consent:

Robert Kagan - After serving as an adviser to Congressman Jack Kemp in 1983, and then working as a speechwriter for Secretary of State George Schultz, in 1985 Kagan was chosen by Elliot Abrams to head the Office of Public Diplomacy, whose mission was to create support for the Nicaraguan Contra rebels.

Kagan was a co-founder of PNAC, and is currently a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Co-author with Bill Kristol of “Toward a Neo-Reaganite Foreign Policy” in which he advocated “benevolent” American global hegemony based upon military dominance and “elevated patriotism.”

Robert's brother Frederick is the cat who thought up Surge.

Advocate of a “concert of democracies” to supplant the UN Security Council in order to grant legitimacy to military interventions around the globe. Recently recognized the need to talk with Iran, if only to establish a record to use against Tehran.

“American power, even deployed under a double standard, may be the
best means of advancing progress.” BBC, 2003

John Bolton - Former diplomat, Senior Vice President for Public Policy Research at the American Enterprise Institute, and member of the Project for the New American Century, Bolton was one of the signers of the January 1998 PNAC letter sent to President Bill Clinton urging him to regime change Iraq.

In 2005, Bolton was nominated to be Great Satan's rep to the UN, but his nomination met with strong Democratic opposition over Bolton’s controversial anti-UN statements and policies. Bolton was eventually given a recess appointment to the UN. He served from 2005 to 2006, and resigned at the end of one term. At a conservative conference in 2008, Bolton described how “McCain secretly tried to shepherd his nomination to the United Nations.”

Bolton currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, His last book "Surrender Is Not An Option" is required reading, and he currently wields like the world's largest moustache.

"Diplomacy is not an end in itself if it does not advance U.S.

Max Boot - Ex Wall Street Journal editor and current senior fellow for national security studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, expertise includes a really cool name, Defense policy; defense budget; proliferation; nation-building and peacekeeping; democracy and human rights; Great Satan grand strategy; national security; military technology; military history; Great Satan's foreign policy; terrorism and guerilla warfare; terrorism; media.

Boot advocates a role for Great Satan similar to the British Empire. Believes that Great Satan needs a “colonial office” inspired by the British system in India in order to better fulfill its role of transforming the world.

Advocate of a sort of foreign legion wherein immigrants and other non-citizens would receive citizenship in exchange for U.S. military service. Excellent military historian and a big fan of Great Satan's 30 year in the future military.

"Only if democracy eventually prevails in Pyongyang and Tehran can
the West breathe easy."

Randy Scheuneman Ex Congressional aide to Trent Lott and Bob Dole. Co-founder, president and executive director of the Committee For the Liberation of Iraq. Drafter of the 1998 Iraq Liberation Act. Project director at the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). In 1998, founded a firm which lobbied on behalf of the NRA, and later the governments of Georgia and other former Soviet Bloc states benefiting from the invasion of Iraq. Authored concept of “rogue state rollback.”

Ralph Peters - Retired U.S. Lieutenant Colonel, author, novelist and op-ed writer. Called Muqtada al-Sadr “our mortal enemy” in 2006, and supported Surge while it ripped the living guts out of Mahdi Army.

“If we can’t leave a democracy behind, we should at least leave the
corpses of our enemies."

Senator Joe Lieberman - One of Congress’s strongest Iraq war supporters, former Democrat (current Independent) Lieberman has bashed Democrats for proposing timelines for withdrawing troops from Iraq. Like McCain, Lieberman subscribes to George W. Bush’s “global war on terror” view (which McCain calls a transcendental struggle“) and also supports expansive executive power for prosecuting that war. Lieberman has also advocated a tax to fund expansion of the military.

“I’m worried that too many people, both in politics and out, don’t appreciate the seriousness of the threat to American security and the evil of the enemy that faces us"

Just a few of the McCaineocons that may have even more influ and power if McCain wins. Others include Bill Kristol, Daniel McKivergan, Gary Schmitt, Mark Salter, James Woolsey.

Complex Projection

Fareed Zakaria is a complex cat. American - by choice - his "Future of Freedom" is actually quite good, fully crunk with facts and examples that religion alone isn't what ails the ME.

Tribalism and mohammedism mixed together is about as attractive as an unpopular mixed drink called a Dr. No - Vodka, Cherry Coke and Pepto Bismol. Anywhere this Arabic mix is imbibed or imported - the misery, intolerance and general suck factor becomes unbearable to any one in weapons range.

Fareed's TV show GPS or Global Public Square on some cable news outlet is not as good, though it does have it's moments. His last book "Post American World" is a non starter and about as exciting as being stuck in traffic.

It's cool. Even Marilyn Manson released a dud every now and then.

Fareed tries his hand at painting Great Satan's actions since 911 are lot like Great Satan's history.

Always freaking out and always over reacting.

Fareed calls it reality. It's more like projecting.

"The Iraq War, for Obama, is a prime example of an alarmist
overreaction, one that had the United States launch an unprovoked invasion of a country and rack up huge costs.

If America can keep its cool and provide the help that countries
really seek—in development, modernization and democracy-building—then we will gain in both security and legitimacy."

Au contraire mon frer!

Of all the things that could be listed about Iraq and Senator Obama - keeping cool and providing help - especially before Surge - were nowhere on the list.

Indeed, The big O's primary campaigned on a Baghdad Bug Out - complete with choppers flying out of the Green Zone ala Saigon's fall way back in the last millennium could be described as controlled panic or simply in heat with defeat - so anxious to prove his pre war caveats were totally correct.

Fareed does provide some cool stuff though in his article.

"We live in remarkably peaceful times. A University of Maryland
study shows
that deaths from wars of all kinds have been dropping
dramatically for 20 years and are lower now than at any point in the last half century. A study from Simon Fraser University finds that casualties from terrorism have been steadily declining since 9/11.

It is increasingly clear—look at their voting from Indonesia to
Iraq to Pakistan—that very few Muslims anywhere support Islamic fundamentalists. More countries than ever before now embrace capitalism and democracy."

Fareed's finish trys to down play any wild rhetotrical flourishes about 911 or harbinging surprise attacks in the future.

"Rhetoric about transcendent threats and mortal dangers grips the
imagination of the American people. But it also twists U.S. foreign policy in ways that can prove to be extremely costly to the country and the

Sir Paul and Little Satan

Sir Paul - ex Beatle, ex Wings and the richest cat in show biz is totally blowing off death threats for his upcoming gig in Little Satan on 25 Sept.

Sir Paul is no stranger to controversy. Since hitting the stage back in the Mop Top days, he's been a trend setter. Wiping clean and drawing again the face of popular music, he advocated that tripping on LSD was a lot like taking an aspirin without a headache, that weed was ok and composed the sound track to baby boomers lives.

Before he was Sir Paul he was awarded the Member British Empire along with John, George and Ringo, got banned by BBC back in the 70's with a hands off Great Britain tune called "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" and charmed his way into Knighthood.

Regardless, Sir Paul has always been a class act and deployed a free gig for 911 First Reponders and their families at Madison Square Garden debut'ing a tune called "Freedom" which prett much summed up the post 911 world - into the Free and the Unfree worlds.

Within 12 hours of tickets going on sale for the Little Satan gig - Sir Paul sold over 10K tickets!

Palestinian fanboy Omar Bakir - recently declared personnae non gratis in Great Britain - and currently in hiding - has threatened the rocking Sir Paul with suicide bombers if he dares to celebrate Little Satan's 60th with a rocking concert.

"If he values his life, Mr. McCartney must not come to Israel. He will not
be safe there. The sacrifice operatives will be waiting for him. Instead of
supporting the people of Palestine in their suffering, McCartney is celebrating the atrocities of the occupiers. The one who is under occupation is supposed to be getting the help."

Sir Paul points out tolerance for intolerance is way uncool and unbefitting for any fan of fun and free choice.

"I was approached by different groups and political bodies who asked me not to come here. I refused. I do what I think, and I support Israel"

A Task From God

A wonderful reminder to friends, frienemies and enemies that even as America succumbs to her two yearly electile dysfunction - Great Satan is crazy and unpredictable.

In spite of being more fickle than any girl, with the attention span of only twice as long as whatever she's hit with - Great Satan continues to confound critics and undermine critique on her will power, fire power and staying power.

Hearts, minds and hands that work diligently at endeavours like space exploration, medicine, high tech, education, academics and the arts can easily be turned to amazing battlefield exploits, determination can devastatingly be turned to deadly endeavours like annihilating enemies, birthing baby democracies, staying the course or surging.

Mistakes? Maybe tactical - but her strategic designs to transform the heart of the ME into a fun, functional democratic society that is the first of it's kind in a area chock full of tribal kleptocracy, gangsta despotry and illegit regimes is another reason Great Satan is truly Great.

"When In Doubt - Knock 'Em Out"

ABC's recent Iview with the delectable GOP Veepbabe is quite revealing in more ways than one.

Especially with regards to Regime Changing.

Regime Changing is a hallowed American tradition - just lucky perhaps - Great Satan has took up a hook up that has shook up the status quo since the day she hit the hood.

Not entirely her fault - unfree and often nigh unhinged autocrats, despots, tyrants and leaders for life discovered to their dismay, annihilation and ruin that Great Satan has zero misgivings about her ability to destroy natural enemies.

It is her natural function, for she is the one truly revolutionary country in the world for more than 2 centuries. She does it automatically, and that is precisely why the tyrants hate her guts, and are driven to attack her. An enormous advantage, tyrants fear her, and their oppressed peoples want what she offers: freedom.

Aside from gaining Independence, Great Satan's influ quickly regime changed her oldest homie in the world. Royal France helped out America's kick off so much she went broke and succumbed to the French Revolution.

A few years later Great Satan deployed leather necked teuffel hunden Marine Corps to put paid to a chaotic Mohammedist fiefdom with a hideous penchant for piracy, slave trading and extortion in the Barbary Coast.

Most regime changes wrought have been the result of intolerant, unfree regimes acting out militarily - actually attacking Great Satan.

911 changed all that.

In an age of WMD crunk caliphates, illegitimate, corrupt, murderous regimes, rocket rich body part collectors and any fanboy fellow travellers (rocket hot or not) there is little reason to even tolerate their existence.

According sovereign status to ruinous failed states and their 'leaders' who torment their own people, their neighbors, foreign humanitarian compassionates, condone and practice genocide, horrific gendercide on their own sweet girls, indulge in slave trading while their 'nations' suffer pitiful literacy rates, poor sanitation, blinging on missiles, militaries, secret police instead of hospitals, schools, free media or a future for their young people and tend to act out against any democrazie in weapons range is a very tough case to make or even defend.

The counter of course is essentially - if killed off - such creeps, jerks and time traveling retards could very well be replaced with people much, much worse.

So what?

Newly minted despotries would have much to consider after a regime killing regime change's still smoking impact areas would most likely encourage robust contemplation about responsible leadership, desired behavior and functional societies.

Besides, should Americans truly be concerned about the world's view of Great Satan if she took out a rats nest of a regime over a long weekend along with their precious assets like WMD, rocket artillery or intolerant militias? Any tears shed by fellow tyrannies could be an indicator of the 'next time'.

GIBSON: Do we have a right to anticipatory self-defense? Do we have
a right to make a preemptive strike again another country if we feel that
country might strike us?

PALIN: Charlie, if there is legitimate and enough intelligence that
tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country. In fact, the president has the obligation, the duty to defend.
When in doubt - knock 'em out

WE in the United States have suffered a great loss. But the incineration of innocent civilians in our cities was not due to our intrinsic weaknesses but rather, like the Greeks in the weeks before Thermopylae, attributable to our naivety and unpreparedness.

Like everybody who scoffs at the perceived laxity of Western democracies, these murderers have woken an enormous power from its slumber, and retribution will shortly be both decisive and terrible.

The bloody wages of this ignorance of the power of a free people aroused are age-old and unmistakable - Xerxes's 60,000 washed ashore at Salamis, 80,000 of the Sultan's best floating in the waters off Lepanto, 100,000 lost in the streets of Tokyo.

Western nations at war, from the Greeks to the present, are not weak but enormously lethal - far out of proportion to their relatively small population and territories.

This power is not an accident of geography, much less attributable to natural resources or genes, but rather found in its very ideas and values. The foundations of Western culture - freedom, civic militarism, capitalism, individualism, constitutional government and secular rationalism - when applied to the battlefield have always resulted in carnage for their adversaries

Such ideals were apparent almost immediately this time aroung - with the decision of doomed airline passengers to storm their hijackers; with Congress freely voting vast sums of capital for military operations; individual rescue workers, aided by sophisticated and huge machines, on their own initiative devising ad hoc methods of saving victims and restoring calm to a devastated city.

Neither the genius of Hannibal nor the diseases of Africa nor the fanaticism of the Mahdists have stopped Western armies. Occasional lapses such as last week's have prompted not capitulation, but responses far more deadly than their enemies' temporary victories.

In the months to come, American ground and air forces, with better weapons, better supplies, better discipline and more imaginative commanders - audited constantly by an elected Congress and President, criticised by a free press - will shatter the very foundations of Islamic fundamentalism.

The Taliban and other hosts of murderers at bases in Pakistan, Iraq and Syria may find reprieve from Western clergy and academics, but they shall not from the American military.

America is not only the inheritor of the European military tradition, but in many ways also its most powerful incarnation. Our multiracial and radically egalitarian society has taken the concepts of freedom and market capitalism to their theoretical limits.

While our critics often ridicule the crassness of our culture and the collective amnesia of our masses, they often underestimate the lethal power that accrues from such an energetic and restless citizenry, where past background means little in comparison with present ambition, drive and ingenuity.

Our creed is not class, breeding or propriety, but machines, brutal competition and unchecked audacity. These are intimidating assets when we turn, as we shall shortly, from the arts of production to those of destruction.

The world, much less the blinkered fundamentalists, has not seen a United States unleashed for a long time and so has forgotten all this. Americans are kind, and they are a generous people. But when wronged, held in contempt and attacked in peace, they define victory as the absolute annihilation of their adversaries.

So we are a schizophrenic people of sorts, a nation of amateurs that can almost magically transform itself into a culture of professional killers.

Dear Leader Rocks!

Dear Leader Kim Jong Il is a rare great man of Baekdu type who was born at Mt.Baekdu, the sacred mountain of our nation, and made an unusual growth amidst the special revolutionary education of his parents, brilliant commanders of Baekdu, as well as the practical training of the revolutionary struggle. He personifies the revolutionary spirit, trait and nature of Mt.Baekdu.

The revolutionary spirit of Mt.Baekdu personified by him is the spirit of independence associated with the soul of Baekdu, the spirit of gun inheriting the linage of Baekdu, the indefatigable revolutionary spirit replete with the mettle of Baekdu and the optimistic spirit consistent with cheerfulness of Baekdu.

The revolutionary trait of Mt.Baekdu possessed by him is pluck and courage of Baekdu-style giant, ever-victorious sagacity of the brilliant commander of Baekdu, broad-mindedness befitting a heroic man, organizing ability of leading millions of people, indefatigable attacking spirit, strong ability of execution."

Kim Jong Il the Dear Leader For Life of Xenophobic NoKo may have stroked out a few weeks back.

This is significant.

In scary, scary, oathbreaking NoKoland - nuke powered, with underground rocket factories, unfree media, starvation, secret rocket bases, secret police, secret trials and secret prisons, Dear Leader is way more than a despotic semi insane ruler au absolute'.

Dear Leader is also NoKo's leading novelist, philosopher, historian, educator, designer, literary critic, architect, general, farmer, and ping-pong trainer. Radios are made so they can only be tuned to the official state freq. "Newspapers" are filled with endless columns of Kim speeches and propaganda.

And instead of Xmas, NoKo rocks out to celebrate Dear Leader's Happy BDay! Party--and he presents each kid a present, just like Santa!

Natch, Dear Leader is also NoKo's premier lover too! Thanks to a never ending supply of magic mountain Baekdu pills - apparently extensively takes seriously the notion of being the father of his country, setting aside great numbers of women for personal service.

The list of special favors continues on and on: as NoKo sank ever deeper into poverty and famine in the late 1990s, Dear Leader kept a stash - like

" a 10,000-bottle wine cellar and liked shark's fin soup several times a

And hosted rowdy parties, feasts and State Banquets for days at a time
Dear Leader also uses wicked Western high tech to maintain more than absolute control in a personal despotry that features an ever expanding computerized Police State.

An incapacitated Dear Leader may be the reason NoKo is firing up WMD witchcraft again as a power struggle begins.

During the interim as the world waits and watches - take a rocking ride on the "Heavenly Steed Of Liberation"

"Ah Korea, the bright star was born on Mt. Baekdu”

“The fellow countrymen, the bright star rose on Mt. Baekdu”

“The star of sun rose on the house of the sun in Mt. Baekdu”

“Korea, boast of the birth of the star of the sun over the world”

“All the compatriots, look up to Mt. Baekdu. The bright star shines”

“Long live the bright star of Mt. Baekdu”

“The 20 million compatriots, the bright star rose on Mt. Baekdu riding on the heavenly steed for liberation”

“The bright star of Mt. Baekdu is the superstar in the world”

“The bright star of Mt. Baekdu is the pride of Korea”

“The star soaring on Mt. Baekdu is the bright star of Korea”

“The bright star rose with the spirit of Mt. Baekdu”

“The bright star of Mt. Baekdu, the great luck for the 20 million people, was born”

Recently RAND Corps prett much pointed out that Afghanistan may be about as good as it's going to get. Every spring trouble treks over the frontier from semi safe zones in Pakistan's Federated Tribal Zones to wreck havoc, death and terror on Afghanistan's tiny baby democracy.

Like Hamid Kharzai mentioned a while back - Afghan diplomat Jawed Ludin advises it's high time to take out trouble at the source - and all their miserable, intolerant misfit fanboys and time traveling tribalists too - inside Pakistan.

"If the resignation of President Pervez Musharraf represented a step forward for Pakistan's nascent democratic transition, the collapse of the ruling coalition this week underlined its delicacy. This is a crucial time for the international community, and the United States in particular, to review its relationship with Pakistan - especially when it comes to a strategy for defeating the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan, and the terrorist threat across the wider region.

To begin with, the US must invest more confidence and resources in Pakistan's civil society and its civilian, democratic leadership. The last general election, held in February, in which secular political parties won landslide victories at the expense of extremist groups, reflects the true aspirations of the people, which must be nurtured and supported.

Next, the US must recognise the utter futility of working with the Pakistani military establishment. A politically compromised institution, the army is complacent about confronting terrorism and has, over the past seven years, sought to undermine the international effort to stabilise Afghanistan.

Above all, the US has to realise that it cannot win the war on terror in Afghanistan's territory. Indeed, to the extent that the terrorist threat in Afghanistan emanates from sanctuaries across the border in Pakistan, it is in Pakistan that terrorism must be defeated.

No other strategy stands any chance.

Radical though expanding the war on terror into Pakistan may sound, it is not implausible or unrealistic.

A few practical steps may be taken: first, the US must initiate a crucial debate about revising the existing modus operandi of the international forces in Afghanistan, currently divided into two separate missions - the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf), and the US-led Coalition Joint Task Force. Political assent from allies around the world and Pakistan's leadership will allow a geographical expansion of the theatre of war.

In the new arrangement, Isaf must be strengthened to take on a greater role in building up Afghan security forces and help the Afghan government to expand the rule of law across the country. The counter-terrorism mission, on the other hand, must be entrusted to a revitalised, US-led coalition of the willing that includes the newly constituted Afghan national army and the Pakistani military. Without having to invade Pakistani territory, the coalition should establish a viable presence by opening military bases on Pakistani soil.

A supreme commander, with deputies from Afghanistan and Pakistan, should be appointed to devise and implement an effective counter-terrorism strategy for operations on both sides of the Durand line that separates the two countries. The coalition should also ensure the security of Pakistan's dangerous nuclear arsenal and prevent any potential proliferation.

In doing the above, the US must not be deterred by predictions of a possible public backlash in Pakistan as a result of international military intervention. The assumption, widely held in the west, that Pakistani society is fundamentally hostile towards the west is largely hot air from Pakistan's military establishment.

The Pakistani people share some of the rather abstract grievances that Muslim populations across the globe harbour. However, radicalism and militancy are not necessarily ingrained in any Muslim society, including Pakistan's.

And if Afghanistan's experience is anything to go by, strong leadership and a true commitment to the security and wellbeing of the people of Pakistan will help the United States to find a staunch ally in the task of ridding the region of the cancer of terrorism."

Nyet NATO!

An article of faith among the faithless, the dope about rowdy Russia is:

"Lay back and enjoy it."

Nothing nobody can do - Russia's petrol fed, fat and phat risque panzer blitz that licked Georgia's peach clean is a fait accompli - and a harbinging ho of what past and future vassels can expect if they fall for Great Satan's wicki trick and attempt to hook up with free markets, free choice and the rest of the West.

Since Vlad finally fought the last Chechen War to a draw - the spiritual sons of the ancient Red Army are acting out like it's her 28 day crazy cycle.

Justifying street cred is only part of the story.

The Russian government made two bets when it sent troops into South
Ossetia and Georgia last month. The first — that Russian forces could crush any opposition — was a pretty safe bet. While the Russian military has deteriorated significantly since the Cold War, it has more than enough firepower to defeat the armed forces of any former Soviet republics.

The speed with which it defeated Georgian forces is proof enough of
its enduring ability to crush tiny nations on its periphery

The second bet had longer odds, but was still relatively safe: that the
rest of the world would be unable to muster a unified response and that harsh words would substitute for substantive action. That calculation has also been vindicated.

In the aftermath of the dismemberment of Georgia, Russian President
Dmitry Medvedev has claimed a "sphere of influence" in the world.

Such a military event also put Russia in easy range of securing the one Caspian pipeline she doesn't have her mitts on already.

So how well did Russia's blitz do? Just how crunk is this grrl?

Dr Frederick Kagan (the cat who dreamed up Surge) points out that Russia ain't all that.

Surging with all 3 active regiments of the 18th Motorized Rifle Div.

SPETZNAZ - Russia's Green Berets (48th Reconnaissance Regiment) were deployed in covert missions.

Plus two entire divs of airborne paratroopers who amazingly rode into Ossetia and Georgia by truck! Hardly a devastating shout out about air superiority in Russia's south 40.

Why cause?

Air wise - Russia deployed almost her entire operational reserves of rotary heli choppers and fixed wing ground attack jets - leaving only the Far East and Euro air commands intact - sorteeing over 600 craft.

Obvious screw ups are Red Air Force. Flying Vlad's latest ground-attack jets armed with she bear's newest precision weaponary, pilots are missing way more targets than they're hitting.

All those strikes on civilian rich environs like semi Stalinesque Wedding Cake structure apartments (wide avenued - especially created for those wide shouldered, quick breeding proletariats) - and other innocent targetry?

Maybe some are on purpose. Russia is not above striking terror against murderous creeps or gossipie journalists Some strikes may be totally on purpose and on mission.

Most are prob the result of no game pilots - flying scared.

Missions are missing pipelines, rail lines and oil-storage facilities - just dumping their bombs as quickly as they can and heading home.

Russian pilots are neither pro nor emo tough for precision strikes. Comabatty jet wise - she got game (not like Great Satan created stuff) but classy gear.

The training lags - curiously too - since Russia be blinging to the nth with petrol rubles - and her fly boyz and grrls log way less flight hours than any 30 year in the future military like Great Satan's.

Or match aerial audacity with hot shot fly jocks and jockettes in the League of Hot! Democrazies - Little Satan, Great Britain, France, Taiwan, SoKo. Australia, Canada and Nippon.

Obviously Vlad has plotted this out for a while - so any operational retardedness military wise must be infuriating.

Vlad has

"...relatively few competent, deployable formations--there are the
airborne divisions and the air assault brigades, and a few tank and motor-rifle divisions, but not much else.

Similarly, the Russian air force doesn't have very many fully
operational aircraft or deep reserves of fuel, spare parts and munitions. This invasion has probably eaten deeply into Russian operations and maintenance funding, to say nothing of its war reserve stockpiles of ordnance and equipment. "

Such sassy scathing military brainiac's pro assessment and critique Russia's performance in Georgia, by Great Satan standards or even Western standards is pretty pitiful.

Even the best of the Russian army would be considered rather mediocre, weak and totally played.

Can Georgia recover on her own?

"Georgians can now regroup and re-equip. They are in desperate need
of two things: weapons to kill tanks, and weapons to kill or deter aircraft and helicopters. We can supply both. The Stinger missile, the bane of Russian Frontal Aviation in Afghanistan, is still the most potent shoulder-fired weapon around. It will cause Russian close support aircraft to keep their distance, or to attack from higher altitude.

Providing Georgia with medium-range surface-to-air missiles which can be deployed from Georgian territory proper will further push back their
high-altitude aircraft (e.g., Tu-22M Backfires).

Freed from aerial observation and the threat of air attack, Georgian
forces could move dismounted over the mountains more readily than Russian mechanized forces can move along the roads. Which means that the Georgians would be free to set up ambushes to block further Russian advances and to interdict their lines of communication.

First, we need to give the Georgians anti-tank mines, and not just
any kind, but our latest "smart" off-route mines like the XM93 Wide Area Mine (WAM). These don't have to be placed directly on the roads, but can be put off to the side, where built-in sensors can detect armored vehicles and launch explosive formed penetrator (RFP) warheads at them.

Second, we need to give them our best anti-tank guided
missile, the FGM-148 Javelin. This is a "fire and forget" weapon: once the operator lines up the target in his sights and locks on, he can fire the missile and get away, while the missile will fly autonomously to the target. With a range of about two kilometers, the Javelin also uses a "top attack" profile, diving down onto the roof of the tank where the armor is thinnest.

In action in Operation Iraqi Freedom, javelins were devastating against
Russian-designed tanks. Knocking out a few tanks or other armored vehicles on a narrow mountain road creates a barrier to movement behind which all traffic piles up, immobile and vulnerable to attack.

Georgian special forces are reputed to be well trained and highly motivated. "

They would probably be even more motivated fighting Russians on their own turf and in their very own hoods than they were fighting al Qaeda back in Iraq.

The 'Pain Game's End Game'?

"As Russian forces start to bleed, it will be impossible, even in
the controlled media of Putin's Russia, to hide the casualties from the Russian people. They will probably respond to this as they did to the bloodletting in both Afghanistan and Chechnya.

Worse, for the Russian government, a prolonged and bloody war will
require a massive increase in the Russian military budget, which has been run on a shoestring for most of the Putin era. "

That means making painful choices between military and other priorities, precisely at the same time that oil prices have begun to come down, cutting into Russian revenues - even worse - Great Satan will most likely be totally unbound from Iraq - seeking new ops in expanding the free world and fondly checking out hot! little Georgia.

That type of audacious activity will demonstrate again - Great Satan's firepower, staying power and will power.

Even better it will serve as an example to the old East Bloc of New Europe - that freedom isn't free.
